Obverse description Central long cross pattée with arms extending to a beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters. The cross is boldly struck in high relief with plain limbs. A beaded inner circle frames the cross, beyond which the circumferential legend is inscribed in Gothic uncial characters. The overall composition is characteristic of Anglo-Gascon hammered silver coinage of the mid-fourteenth century, with a flat, slightly irregular flan.
