| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large plain cross pattée within a beaded inner circle, typical of the Tournois gros type. The cross divides the inner field into four quadrants, each plain. Surrounding the inner circle, a circular legend in Gothic uncial characters reads the royal devotional inscription invoking the name of God and identifying Edward as king. An outer beaded border frames the entire design. The hammered fabric is irregular, consistent with fourteenth-century Aquitainian workshop production. |
