| Obverse description | A lion passant to left occupies the central field, depicted in a bold, stylized medieval manner with clearly rendered mane and musculature. Above the lion's back appears a shield bearing the Angevin arms, serving as a heraldic identifier of Charles I of Anjou. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the circular legend running between the inner and outer borders. The overall composition is characteristic of the Roman senatorial coinage workshop of the late 13th century. |

| Reverse description | The enthroned figure of Roma is depicted facing, seated frontally upon a high-backed throne in the hieratic Byzantine-influenced style common to Roman senatorial grossi of the period. She holds a globus cruciger in her right hand and a palm frond in her left, both attributes of imperial and civic authority. The figure is crowned and rendered with stylized drapery, framed within a beaded inner circle. The circular legend surrounds the central device between the inner beaded border and the outer rim, proclaiming Rome's supremacy. |
