Obverse description Enthroned facing effigy of King Louis I (Nagy Lajos), depicted full-length seated on a throne, wearing a crown and royal regalia. The king holds a sceptre in his right hand and an orb or globus cruciger in his left, with the figure rendered in the Gothic hammered style typical of mid-14th-century Hungarian coinage. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend running along the outer border. Some varieties show the king with a beard.
