| Obverse description | Four-fold quartered shield of arms occupying the central field, divided by a cross, with the two-digit date flanking the lower quarters; the shield bears the arms of the Bishopric of Basel and the Blarer von Wartensee family. A beaded inner circle frames the shield, with the Latin episcopal legend running continuously around the outer border. The coin is struck on an irregular flan characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. |
