Obverse description Central field occupied by a plain Greek cross of bold, even arms, enclosed within a raised inner circle. The surrounding annular zone carries the episcopal legend in uncial characters, separated from the outer rim by a beaded or rope-like border. The flan is irregular and slightly cupped, typical of mid-14th-century hammered silver coinage of the Rhône valley bishoprics. The cross divides the inner field into four equal quadrants, each plain and unadorned, lending the design a severe, hieratic quality consistent with ecclesiastical issues of the period.
