Obverse description Frontal enthroned figure of Pope Clement V depicted in full pontifical vestments, wearing a mitre and holding a papal cross-staff (ferula) in his right hand while raising his left hand in a gesture of benediction. A decorative rosette or floral ornament is visible at the center of the chest. The figure is rendered in the angular, stylized Gothic manner typical of early 14th-century ecclesiastical coinage. The central device is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by the papal legend in uncial lettering.
