Obverse description A winged griffon sejant is depicted behind a quartered heraldic shield, with Bavaria represented in the first and fourth quarters and the Palatinate in the second and third quarters. The design is enclosed within a double pearled circle, between which runs the continuous Latin legend. The devices are rendered in the Gothic style typical of early 15th-century Rhenish and Luxembourgian minting practice.
