| Reverse description | A long double-armed cross (cross potent or similar form) divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing a passant or rampant lion, the heraldic beast of Guelders, rendered in bold relief typical of hammered medieval groschen. A central escutcheon is placed at the crossing of the arms. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the surrounding legend MONETA NOVA NOVIMAGENS` — meaning 'New Coinage of Nijmegen' — in Gothic-influenced Latin lettering separated by stops. The reverse composition closely follows the Flemish groot tradition adapted for Guelders monetary production. |
