Obverse description Central crowned eightfold quartered shield bearing the combined arms of Austria-Burgundy, with the escutcheon of Gelderland superimposed at the center. The shield displays the characteristic diagonal stripes of Austria and the Burgundian lion quarterings in a complex heraldic arrangement typical of the Habsburgian-Burgundian dynastic coinage. The crowned helm above the shield is rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of late 15th-century Low Countries minting. The entire device is surrounded by a circular beaded border enclosing the circumferential legend in uncial Gothic lettering.
