| Obverse description | A rampant lion to the left occupies the central field, bearing a Burgundian escutcheon on its flank. The design is executed in the bold, angular style characteristic of early fifteenth-century Low Countries coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the uncial Gothic legend running continuously in the outer margin. The lion's tail curves distinctively downward — the feature that gives this type its popular name 'Kromstaart' (curved tail). |

| Reverse description | A long cross pattee divides the reverse into four quarters, each containing one of the quarterly arms of the Bavaria-Holland shield: upper left and lower right bear the lozengy arms of Bavaria, upper right and lower left bear the lion of Holland. The arms of the shield intersect the surrounding legend, a common compositional feature of Low Countries groats of this period. A beaded inner border separates the quartered shield from the outer uncial Gothic legend. The overall design reflects the dynastic claims of Jacqueline of Bavaria as Countess of Holland and Zeeland. |
