| Obverse description | Central field displays a crowned helmet surmounted by a lion passant facing sinister, flanked on either side by armorial shields bearing the coats of arms of the Holy Roman Empire and the Lordship of Megen respectively. The central devices are enclosed within a quatrefoil border, with stylized floral ornaments occupying the four outer corners of the field. A circumferential legend in Gothic uncial characters runs within the outer border, identifying the issuer as John, Lord of Megen. |
