Reverse description A long cross extending to the inner beaded circle divides the reverse field into four quarters, with an annulet in the first and fourth angles and three pellets (bezants) arranged in a triangular grouping in the second and third angles. The Latin legend is distributed around the periphery between two concentric beaded circles. The design is a classic medieval cross-and-quarters type, characteristic of Catalan groats of the Aragonese period and consistent with the Barcelona mint's output under James II.
