Obverse description Front-facing episcopal bust of Bishop Engelbert de la Marck, mitred and vested, set within the legend field and flanked by the divided inscription. The central effigy is enclosed by a beaded inner circle, beyond which a decorative border of twelve pellets or leaves within individual circles forms the principal ornamental frame. The overall composition is typical of mid-14th-century Mosan episcopal coinage, rendered in the uncial Gothic style of the period.
