Obverse description Abstracted Celtic-style design in the centre of the flan depicting a stylised ear of barley or corn rendered in a highly schematic, curvilinear manner characteristic of Late Iron Age British coinage. The central motif is composed of a series of boldly raised, rounded bosses arranged in a cruciform or branching pattern, flanked by sweeping linear striations suggesting grain husks or decorative foliage. The flan is irregular and slightly scalloped at the edges, consistent with contemporary counterfeit production on a bronze core. A notable patch of exposed bronze substrate is visible in the lower left field where the thin gold wash has worn or flaked away, confirming the base-metal nature of the coin.
