| Obverse description | Draped and laureate effigy of Louis XIV facing right, with long flowing curls cascading over the shoulders in the grand manner of the late Baroque court portrait style. The king's mature visage features a prominent aquiline nose and a laurel wreath crowning the elaborate wig, reflecting the regal imagery standardized under engraver Jacques Roëttiers. The circumferential Latin legend reads LVD. XIIII. D. G. FR. ET. NAV. REX, abbreviated for Ludovicus XIV Dei Gratia Franciae et Navarrae Rex, with the date 1707 placed in the lower exergual area beneath the bust. The entire design is enclosed within a fine beaded inner border. |
