Obverse description Central field divided into four quarters by a plain cross, bearing alternating charges: the upper-left and lower-right quarters display a crowned fleur-de-lis of France, while the upper-right quarter shows the crowned dolphin of the Dauphiné and the lower-left quarter bears a crowned shield. The shield in the upper-left quadrant displays the arms of France ancient (semé of fleurs-de-lis). The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend in Gothic uncial characters occupying the outer margin between two concentric beaded borders.
