Reverse description Central device consists of a large decorative cross anillée fleurdelisée, composed of four arms each terminating in a fleur-de-lis and adorned with annulets and scrolling flourishes, creating an elaborate interlaced design typical of French royal coinage of the period. A small fleur-de-lis appears at the centre of the cross. The mint mark appears at the base of the cross. The circumferential Latin legend, interrupted by the date, reads +CHRISTVS REGNAT VINCIT ET IMP 1648, invoking the motto 'Christ reigns, conquers, and commands.' The coin exhibits a finely toothed border consistent with milled manufacture.
