| Reverse description | Central field features a large ornate crosslet (cross with fleurs-de-lis at each arm termination), characteristic of the écu au soleil type attributed to Louis XI, with a fleur-de-lis rising from the upper arm. The cross is boldly rendered in high relief against a flat hammered field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters reads XPS: VInCIT: XPS: REGnAT: XPS: IMPERAT P, the mint mark P for Perpignan appearing at the end of the legend. The composition and style are consistent with the standard reverse type of the écu au soleil series. |
