| Obverse description | Central field features a crowned shield of Béarn bearing the rampant cow (the traditional heraldic device of the lordship), set within a raised inner circle. The shield is surmounted by an ornate crown with fleurs-de-lis finials. The surrounding legend, separated from the inner circle by a beaded border, reads HENRICVS D G REX NAVAR D B, identifying Henry I of Albret as king of Navarre and lord of Béarn. The coin is of typical hammered manufacture, resulting in a characteristically irregular flan with uneven rims. |
