Reverse description A bold cross fleurée occupies the center of the field, its four arms terminating in elaborate fleur-de-lis finials, with additional decorative elements at the junctions. Small heraldic shields are positioned in the quarters formed by the cross arms. The design is executed in the vigorous hammered tradition of French feudal gold coinage of the early sixteenth century. A circular Latin legend identifying the cardinal legate George of Amboise runs along the beaded outer border.
