Obverse description Bearded head of Dionysos in left profile, wearing a richly detailed ivy wreath with berries and leaves rendered in high relief. The deity's long, flowing hair falls in thick, naturalistic curls about the neck and shoulders, characteristic of the finest Boeotian die-engraving of the early fourth century BC. The facial features — strong brow, prominent nose, and full beard with striated engraving — convey a mature, idealized divine portrait. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of hammered ancient gold coinage, with the design centered boldly within the field.
