| Obverse description | Three-quarter length figure of a tall crowned angel facing front, with large spread wings visible to either side, holding before it the quartered Guelders-Jülich escutcheon in the lower field. The figure is rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of early fifteenth-century Rhenish goldgulden production. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the circumferential legend in uncial characters. The overall composition closely follows the angel-type goldgulden format established by the Rhenish electoral mints. |
