| Obverse description | Facing right, a youthful male head rendered in fine archaic-influenced style, with elaborately curled hair falling in tight ringlets across the crown and nape; the facial features are delicately modeled with a straight nose and slightly parted lips. A small six-pointed star appears in the lower left field before the neck truncation, serving as a control mark characteristic of the Populonian series. The portrait is set against a smooth, plain field with no surrounding legend, consistent with the aniconic simplicity of early Etruscan gold coinage. |
