| Obverse description | Facing lion's head depicted in three-quarter view to the right, rendered with bold, deeply engraved strokes capturing the mane's flowing ridges and the beast's fierce open-mouthed expression with prominent fangs. The field to the left carries the Latin numeral mark of value 'XXV' arranged vertically, denoting the denomination of 25 Asses. The design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's irregular flan. The die-work reflects the archaic Etruscan artistic tradition, with an expressive and somewhat stylised treatment of the leonine features. This is a uniface issue, all design confined to the obverse. |
