| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a quartered shield bearing the Chigi family coat of arms — featuring six hills (monti) with a central oak tree — surmounted by the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the papal tiara, all within a beaded inner circle. The heraldic composition is rendered in the elaborate baroque style typical of seventeenth-century papal coinage. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by star ornaments, reads ALEXANDER VII PONT M followed by the date, and runs around the full periphery within a toothed border. |

| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, Saint George is depicted mounted on a rearing horse facing right, thrusting a lance downward toward a dragon prostrate beneath the horse's hooves, in a dynamic baroque composition. The armoured equestrian figure and the writhing dragon below fill the central field with vigorous movement. The circumferential Latin legend, punctuated by star ornaments, identifies the saint as protector of Ferrara and runs around the full periphery within a toothed border. |
