Reverse description Plain field bearing a five-line central inscription PRIX DU TRAVAIL / L'AN III DE / L'EGALITE / 1794, enclosed within a wreath formed by two upright ears of grain (wheat or oat sprigs) curving symmetrically from the base to meet at the top. The peripheral legend APRES LES TENEBRES LA LUMIERE — the ancient motto of Geneva, meaning 'After Darkness, Light' — encircles the design along the rim, referencing the Reformed Protestant tradition of the city. The date 1794 appears at the foot of the central inscription.
