| Obverse description | Struck in hammered copper, the obverse presents a three-line Arabic legend in the field, reading 'Al-Sultan al-A'zam / Nizam al-Dunya wa'l-Din / Ahmad Shah', executed in a bold Naskh-influenced calligraphic style characteristic of Bahmani Sultanate coinage. The legends fill the flan without a defined border, and the irregular planchet results in partial legend visible at the periphery. The copper surface displays a heavy green patina consistent with extended burial or circulation. The die work is typical of the Gulbarga mint production of the mid-fifteenth century, with slightly uneven strike pressure evident across the field. |
