| Obverse description | Highly stylized and degenerate bust derived from Sassanian prototypes, facing right, rendered in low relief on an irregular flan. The effigy retains vestigial features of the original Sassanian royal portrait, including a schematized crown or headdress above the head and a simplified facial profile, though all elements have been abstracted into geometric forms through successive copying. Pellets and curved lines fill the field to the left, representing the further degradation of what were once Pahlavi inscriptions. The overall style is characteristic of the late Gadhaiya coinage tradition of western India. |
