Reverse description Elaborate fleurdelisé cross with four ornate arms adorned with foliate flourishes and fleurs-de-lis at the terminals, a small central pellet or annulet at the crossing point. Four small cross ornaments fill the angles between the arms. The circular Latin legend SOLI DEO HONOR ET GLORI surrounds the design, with the date 1617 divided across the upper field on either side of the cross. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border, reflecting the Renaissance decorative vocabulary common to Orange principality coinage of this period.
