| Reverse description | A bold floriated cross with elaborate Gothic trefoil terminals occupies the centre of the field, set within a cusped quatrefoil frame formed by four ogival lobes, each filled with floral ornaments and rosettes in the Gothic manner. Small decorative motifs fill the spandrels between the quatrefoil and the inner beaded circle. The design closely imitates the reverse type of the French franc à cheval. The surrounding legend, separated by floral stops, reads: XPC VINCIT XPC REGHAT XPC IMPERAT (Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands). |
