Reverse description A floriated cross pattée with fleurs-de-lis at each terminal, elaborately ornamented in the Gothic manner, contained within a quadrilobe or polylobe frame formed by four cusped arches. Small trefoil or floral ornaments appear in the spandrels between the lobes and the cross arms, enriching the overall decorative scheme. The design closely follows the model of the French franc à cheval coinage of Charles V. The circumferential legend, separated from the central device by a beaded circle, reads XPC VINCIT XPC REGNAT XPC IMPERAT.
