Obverse description Armored bust of Frédéric Henry, Prince of Orange, facing right, with curly hair and a short pointed beard, draped in a mantle over armor with a lace collar visible at the shoulder. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend reads FRED HENR D G PRIN AVR CO NAS, identifying the ruler as Frédéric Henry, by the Grace of God, Prince of Orange and Count of Nassau. The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief Baroque style characteristic of hammered coinage of the period.
