Obverse description Frontal standing effigy of a Byzantine-style emperor depicted in full-length robes, with both arms outstretched to either side, each hand holding a globus or pellet. The figure is rendered in a highly schematic, degenerate style characteristic of early Arab-Byzantine transitional coinage, retaining the iconographic conventions of late Byzantine imperial imagery while showing marked simplification in execution. The field is plain, and the overall design reflects the immediate post-conquest imitative tradition of Syrian local mint production.
