| Obverse description | Hammered gold fractional dinar of irregular flan presenting a central field enclosed within a double circular border. The field contains a four-line Arabic Shahada inscription arranged horizontally: 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God.' The surrounding margin bears the mint and date formula in Arabic script, recording the mint name as Baladat al-Iqbal, seat of Daylam, and the AH year 557. The lettering is rendered in an angular, compact Kufic-derived hand characteristic of Nizari Ismaili coinage of the mid-sixth century AH. |
