Obverse description Radiate bust of Galerius Valerius Maximianus as Caesar facing right, wearing a radiate crown and imperial drapery. The effigy is rendered in the tetrarchic style characteristic of the Diocletianic period, with strong, stylized facial features. The surrounding Latin legend reads GAL VAL MAXIMIANVS NOB C, disposed clockwise around the periphery of the flan. A beaded or dotted border frames the design.
