Obverse description Central field dominated by a large Gothic letter A, flanked by four small annulets or roundels positioned at the cardinal points around the letter, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding marginal legend, rendered in uncial characters, reads AMEDЕВS DVX, identifying the issuer as Duke Amadeus VIII of Savoy. The overall design is characteristic of the spare, heraldic style typical of late medieval Savoyard billon coinage.
