Additional information

Amadeus VI — the "Green Count," named for the color he wore at a celebrated 1353 tournament — ruled Savoy through a period of aggressive territorial consolidation, pushing into the Piedmont and maneuvering between French and Imperial allegiances with remarkable consistency. His monetary output reflects this ambition: the Fort was among the small silver denominations circulating across Alpine and sub-Alpine trade routes where Savoyard commercial reach was actively expanding.

The type's long emission window across four decades means die quality and metal fineness varied considerably, and later strikes are generally coarser.
