| Obverse description | Right-facing draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valens, adorned with a pearl diadem, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Valentinianic period. The effigy displays carefully delineated paludamentum folds over the cuirass, with the pearl diadem clearly distinguishable along the brow. A beaded border encircles the coin's edge. The obverse legend, reading D N VALEN-S P F AVG (Dominus Noster Valens Pius Felix Augustus), is distributed around the imperial portrait in Latin capitals. |
