| Obverse description | Laureate head of Emperor Maximianus facing right, rendered with a short beard and strongly modelled facial features characteristic of the Tetrarchic style. The emperor's effigy is shown as a bare-shouldered bust truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP C M A MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, separated from the central type by a beaded border. The portrait exhibits the vigorous, somewhat abstracted realism typical of late Roman imperial coinage from the Antioch mint. |
