| Obverse description | Armoured bust of Emperor Julian II facing left, pearl-diademed and helmeted, depicted in full cuirass. The emperor holds a spear pointing upward over his right shoulder and bears a decorated shield on his left arm. The effigy presents a martial character consistent with Julian's self-presentation as a soldier-emperor. The encircling Latin legend reads DN FL CL IVLIANVS PF AVG, identifying him as Dominus Noster Flavius Claudius Julianus, Pious Felix Augustus. |
