Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Galerius (as Caesar Maximianus) facing right, with finely rendered facial features including a short beard. The portrait displays the characteristic Tetrarchic style of bold, frontal modelling. The encircling Latin legend reads MAXIMIANVS NOB CAES, identifying the ruler as Noble Caesar. The flan is slightly irregular at the periphery, consistent with hand-struck production of the Diocletianic reform coinage.
