| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Emperor Diocletian facing right, rendered in high relief with fine engraving detail typical of the Aquileian mint. The laureate wreath is clearly articulated with individual leaves and ties, and the emperor's features include a short beard and strong profile characteristic of his official portraiture. The truncation of the bust is plain. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG, distributed around the full periphery of the flan. |
