| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Constantius I facing right, depicted with a radiate crown of laurel and draped paludamentum over the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the sturdy, somewhat stylized Tetrarchic manner characteristic of the Lugdunum mint. The encircling Latin legend reads CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, identifying the ruler as Caesar and noble prince. The flan is irregular, as is typical of early post-reform folles struck at Lugdunum. |
