| Obverse description | Youthful laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Constantine II as Caesar facing left, rendered in the stylized late Roman Imperial manner. The effigy displays a laureate wreath upon the head, a paludamentum (military cloak) fastened at the shoulder, and articulated segmented pteryges visible at the upper arm. The encircling legend reads CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, identifying the young prince as Nobilissimus Caesar. The portrait reflects the distinctive workshop style of the Thessalonica mint circa AD 320. |
