Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Arcadius, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late antique imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The effigy occupies the central field, with the paludamentum visible at the truncation. The circumferential Latin legend D N ARCADIVS P F AVG runs around the bust, identifying the emperor by his titles of Dominus Noster, Pius Felix, and Augustus. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered bronze coinage of the period.
