Obverse description The Virgin Mary (Madonna) enthroned on a crescent, wearing an open crown and surrounded by a glory (nimbus), holding the Christ Child in her right arm. A thistle plant appears on each side of the central figure. Below, a shield bearing the Polish-Jagiellonian eagle is depicted in the lower field. The composition follows the traditional Hungarian florin iconographic convention established in the 14th century, rendered in high-relief hammered style.
