| Obverse lettering | WLADISLAV S · R · VNGARIE (Translation: Ulászló, King of Hungary) |
| Reverse description | Central field features the standing full-length figure of Saint Ladislaus (Szent László), patron saint of Hungary, depicted in royal attire and holding a battle-axe (halberd) in one hand and an orb or sceptre in the other, in the tradition established by the Angevin florins of the 14th century. A mint mark and a countermark shield device appear in the lower field, varying by emission. The Latin legend S · LADISLA VS · REX encircles the figure within a beaded border, identifying the saint as Saint Ladislaus the King. The hammered technique results in slight flatness and irregularity consistent with hand-struck gold coinage of the late 15th and early 16th centuries. |
