| Obverse description | Full-length crowned effigy of King Matthias II facing forward, clad in elaborate armour and an ornate imperial mantle, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an orb in his left. The mintmark letters N and B appear to either side of the king's figure in the field. The portrait is rendered in the detailed engraving style characteristic of early 17th-century Hungarian gold coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central design. The surrounding Latin legend reads MATT · D · G · R · I · S · A · GE · HV · B · REX N B, identifying the ruler by his royal and imperial titles. |
