Obverse description Central field depicts the Virgin Mary (Madonna) enthroned, facing slightly right, crowned and nimbed, holding the Christ Child on her left arm; the Child raises his right hand in blessing. The Virgin is shown in flowing robes in the late Gothic style typical of Hungarian royal coinage. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend disposed in two arcs around the periphery, also bordered by a beaded outer rim. The design follows the established Angevin-derived florin type as adapted for the Hungarian royal coinage of Matthias Corvinus.
